Multi-brand franchisor Brix Holdings signed a multi-unit agreement to open locations featuring two of its concepts in Arizona. Franchisee Richard Stassi, also a Jimmy John’s operator, plans to open three Smoothie Factory + Kitchen and Red Mango co-branded stores in the Phoenix and Scottsdale markets over the next three years. Brix is also working on franchise restarts for three of its other brands, Clean Juice, Friendly’s and Orange Leaf.
Despite a slower dealmaking market this year so far, several major acquisitions closed in the first half of 2024. Private equity firm Roark Capital bought Subway after a reported FTC investigation, Orangetheory Fitness and Self Esteem Brands merged, and Blackstone bought 1,400-unit Tropical Smoothie. From rivers to chilly treats, Texans are always searching for ways to cool down as the state has become synonymous with its heat. Cibolo area residents can call off the hunt as a new frozen yogurt shop is set to open its doors this week.
Orange Leaf will hold a grand opening event for its newest location in Cibolo from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 10. The shop is located at 646 W. FM 78, Suite 145, Cibolo, Texas 78108.
Beginning in the early 2000s, we wondered if we were experiencing the slow and painful death of the chain restaurant. Restaurant goers were looking elsewhere for healthier options, and younger generations increasingly craved unique and trendy over reliable, cheap, or convenient. Even thousands of locations and global expansion couldn’t guarantee success for struggling chain restaurants. Confronted with the ever-expanding market of curbside pick-up and food delivery apps, if a family-friendly chain didn’t keep up with the times, it was all too easy to fall into bankruptcy, or worse, fade into irrelevance.
