Coffee pricesย may be rising, but the pick-me-up remains a daily ritual for two-thirds of Americans. Withย National Coffee Dayย brewing on Monday, Sept. 29, many coffee shops will be serving up freebies and specials for those who love coffee.

Coffeeโ€™s popularity remains secure with 66% of Americans saying they drink at least one cup daily, up nearly 7% from 2020, according to a survey from theย National Coffee Association, released ahead of National Coffee Day. While grabbing coffee on the run remains high โ€“ 36% of coffee drinkers consume the beverage away from home โ€“ most (82%) had the beverage at home over the past day, the survey found.

โ€œCoffeeโ€™s staying power as a beloved touchstone in Americansโ€™ daily lives is remarkable, and its contributions to our health and our economy give Americans even more โ€˜grounds for celebrationโ€™ this National Coffee Day and every day,โ€ said National Coffee Association president and CEO Bill Murray in the surveyโ€™s news release.

Still, coffee is getting pricier. In August, the average price of a pound of ground roast coffee cost $8.87, up 40% a year ago, when it cost $6.31, according to theย Bureau of Labor Statistics. In part due to the weather, but also tariffs.

So a deal or a freebie would help the coffee budget. Hereโ€™s a good serving of specials for National Coffee Day, but remember to check the social media account of your favorite local coffee shop for more deals, too.
